The snowfall total at Philadelphia (6" as of 7 AM at the Airport) has pushed the seasonal total to 44" for the winter -- this is only the second time in Philadelphia's recorded snowfall annals that we've had consecutive winters of 40" of snow or more, with the other instance in 1977-78 and 1978-79.
The dry air definitely lost after 10 PM as heavier snow thumped into the city and southern suburbs, with one inch plus per hour accumulation rates in the above band at 11:30 PM. Snowfall slowly tapered off after 1 AM from the city on south, with most of the snow exiting stage right and stage south by 4:30 this morning. If anything, the drier air helped enhance some "fluff" across the heavier band...Philly's total precipitation (melted) was 0.47" -- ratios were just over 12:1 (12" of snow for 1" of liquid water) in Philadelphia with the storm. However, the cutoff was pretty sharp as Trenton picked up just 1.1" and Bensalem had 2.4". I would have been better served to nudge the 2-5" band about 10-15 miles north across South Jersey.
In the wake of the snow, expect a chilly day with increasing sun. It will be breezy at times, adding a chill to the air but with temperatures expected to rise in the mid 30's this afternoon a good bit of the slush and snow on your side street will quickly melt.
