February 4th, 2011 Forecast

Now:   It's colder than yesterday for the region, with temperatures some 20-30 degrees colder in parts of New Jersey and Delaware that briefly got into a warm surge of air during the afternoon hours before the cold front passed you by.    The winds that added chill to the air today will die down tonight, leaving a cold night around the region.   Friday is shaping up to be a calmer day with temperatures a few degrees below where they "should" be in early February.

Tonight:  Expect clear to partly cloudy skies and diminishing winds overnight.  Lows will range from near 10 in the Lehigh Valley and colder spots outside of the city to the upper teens in the city and at the Shore.  Winds will be light.

Friday:  Calmer with mostly sunny skies that will give way to increasing clouds towards or just after dinner.  For the most part, not a bad Friday.  Highs will be in the 30's across much of the region, perhaps touching 40 along the coast.

Weekend Sneak Peek:   Southern energy will travel northeast along the remnant frontal boundary that crossed the region on Wednesday, spreading precipitation into the region on Saturday.   It may start as a mix or snow before changing to rain from Philadelphia on south and east, with the potential for accumulating snow north and west of the city over the Poconos and Central Pennsylvania.   Precipitation may also end in the form of snow as cooler air wraps in on the backside of the system.   Sunday will be sunnier and milder, with temperatures nudging past 40 in the city.

I'll update the Saturday event later on this evening.
