I hope you enjoyed our series the last several days, highlighting different weather forecasters and meteorologists around the Delaware Valley. Doug and I had a great time talking (either electronically or in person) with each of these people, who gave up some time to provide some insight into the background and into who they are as people.
When the idea popped into my head three and a half weeks ago, my goal was to reach one meteorologist or forecaster at each television station, plus AccuWeather and the National Weather Service, in the Delaware Valley. We almost got there. Channel 6 management nixed our requests to interview our choice for Weatherperson's Week. Channel 6 has historically been a tough nut to crack regarding interviews over the years. We're not the first to get shot down by management in trying to interview someone over there and we certainly won't be the last. It's unfortunate and personally, I'm disappointed that Channel 6 chose not to be a part of it.
Hopefully, if we do this again next year, they will be a bit more cooperative as I don't see this comparing apples to oranges or AccuWeather to EarthWatch to Weather Authority to Weather Service, but opening up a slice of the world that our readers do not see on a regular basis. The fact that Elliot Abrams' voice is booming in multiple markets each morning or that the Weather Service does more than forecast for your back yard may not be known by many...and giving a folks a slice of 'real life' is always an added plus.
Thanks to Elliot, Dave, Tony, Sue, and Kate for their time and candor. I appreciate it and I hope our readers did as well.
