Doing Our Part To Keep You Cool

From youtube, a video that shows the sights and sounds of the January 2011 thundersnowstorm in Philadelphia. On a hot day in the Delaware Valley, there's nothing that's probably more appropriate or needed than watching footage of snow in the city in January.   The video below incorporates music into its montage of snow falling on Morrell Park during the same storm.

We're doing our part to help you stay cool on one of hottest days of the year -- we hope you can continue to think cool thoughts over the next few days before the heat eases...it eventually will...and by January we can reverse the trend and run a stream of warm videos as a way to warm up on a cold day.

Running Scared...

The Weather Channel has a new ad out poking fun at Jim Cantore's penchant of showing up where disaster has or is about to strike.  It's somewhat funny...of course in the winter most snow lovers want Jim Cantore in their backyard if there's a winter storm on the way so I doubt that people would be running away...unless it was to the ACME for bread and milk.

Bolted

Lightning struck an Emirates Airbus 380 last Saturday on its approach to London's Heathrow Airport. There were no casualties nor was there damage to the plane as the bolt traveled through the plane in its journey to the ground.

Lightning strikes planes from time to time but because it acts as a conductor of electricity (helps to be in the air, made of metal, and not touching anything).

Needless to say, it probably a rather shocking experience for the videographer to see this take place.

Probably Worse On The Other Side Of The Pacific, Dude

Best served with audio on...and I'm pretty sure this guy is regretting his choice of words on the video as well as the tsunami generated by the magnitude 9.1 quake splashed into the Oregon coastline yesterday morning.

This would be considered a bigger tragedy as well, I would think, at least on the domestic side instead of the sailboat getting trashed.

I'll cut the guy some slack...when the film is rolling sometimes those talking say things they would in hindsight not say again...look at what's said on television during breaking news coverage of any event and the filter of the teleprompter is not there for the assist.

Still, the below is a tragedy...
