Couple Rounds of Thunder Today
Radar this morning shows showers and thunderstorms over a decent chunk of the region. These storms were the result of a squall line that developed over Michigan and Ontario yesterday afternoon and swept south and southeast overnight. While these storms are not as strong as last night they still bring some loud thunder and decent downpours to the region...and we need the rain! This first round of storms should push south-southeast and away from us by 10 AM...leaving us a murky malaise of haze and humidity in advance of a weak cool front that will fire up more scattered thunderstorm activity this afternoon and early evening.
The key and operative word for this afternoon's activity will be scattered...not everyone will be thundered upon and if you trust the higher resolution modeling (see below), it is pushing the scattered thunderstorm meme for the dinner hour. While the focus area varies based on the computer model, there is a decent chance that the area will see at least some thunderstorms after 3 PM. Any thunderstorms could be locally strong and bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds but a widespread squall line is not expected.
