Peace, Love, and the Sixties

Today's high of 62 was impressive -- a lot warmer than computer modeling had predicted and a testament to the power of west-southwest winds in February ahead of a cold front.  It was a nice midday before the cold front crossed the city between 2 and 3 PM, putting an end to the warmth and beginning the downward march in temperatures.   Before the frontal passage, the winds of warmth boosted temperatures to 60 or higher from Philly on south and east, with a torch-like 70 in Washington.

This is the first 60 degree reading of 2011 -- and it won't be the last this week as we're continuing to ride the potential for mid 60's on Friday.   Yeah, someone near the region could approach 70 again on Friday, with the possible destination for a 70's show in Southern Delaware or Interior South Jersey (Hammonton, AC's Airport to name two places).    Such "warmth" is more akin to early April and not mid February but given the nine week stretch of near solid cold, warmth lovers will take it any way they can.
