February 7th, 2011 Forecast

A couple of days of pure melting are under way, getting rid of increasingly brown piles of snow and ice that are littering the Delaware Valley exposing brown yards.   A mild regime is briefly flexing its muscle and providing some relief to the snowweary.  With that said, a cold front is never far off and another shot of colder air is on the way.   Expect colder temperatures starting Tuesday and the potential for snow still (for now) lurks for Thursday.

Tonight:  Some refreeze in driveways and of puddles from today's melt as temperatures drop below freezing overnight.   Lows by morning will range from 22 north to near 30 in the city with a variably cloudy sky overnight and light winds.

Monday:  Skies will generally be variably cloudy, with more clouds as we work through the day, with mild temperatures as the melt continues.   Expect highs in the mid 40's in the city and south/east, low 40's north/west, with light south and southwest winds.   Some rain, possibly ending as snow, is possible Monday night in the Delaware Valley as the frontal boundary responsible for the next cold shot works east.

The Week Ahead:   After the mild start, the remainder of the week will be cold.  We're still watching for the potential for snow on Thursday and we'll provide a full update on that later this afternoon or evening.  After Thursday's snow threat passes by, the remainder of the week features moderating temperatures, particularly for the second half of next weekend.
