A dreary, damp Friday will give way to a decent weekend by April standards, starting off with average temperatures but warming as the weekend progresses as a warm front lifts on northeast through the region. Sunshine won't be widespread as the frontal boundary that is bringing us some rain today is still lingering around the region for the first parts of the weekend but by late Sunday we should see an improvement in the weather as that front lifts north.
Rain will continue through this evening, gradually tapering off later tonight. A lingering shower can't be ruled out on Saturday but it should be dry in the region for the most part. The warm front lifts north and could get agitated enough to fire up a shower or even a thunderstorm on Sunday morning around the region. However, widespread rain is not expected this weekend.
High temperatures on Saturday will warm into the upper 50's...perhaps even 60 if skies can clear a bit more. Sunday will feature warmer air nudging in aloft, which should warm everyone into the 60's to around 70. The warmest readings will be in Philly and points west, while coastal sections and points northeast will not warm up as much. Low temperatures will be cool tonight -- around 40, with mid and upper 40's likely on Saturday night. Winds should be modest through the weekend, generally less than 10 mph and veering from east to southwest over the weekend.
We'll talk about the potential for record warmth on Monday over the weekend, as well as update the shower chances for Sunday.
