A stalled frontal boundary will provide the avenue for a disturbance to move east later tonight and tomorrow, generally impacting Delaware and South Jersey with periods of showers, steadier rain, and drizzle. Some of the rain could nudge farther north past Philadelphia but trends suggest any precipitation totals north of Philly will be modest and not significant. High pressure over New England will help nudge the highest precipitation totals across Delaware and extreme South Jersey, where over a half inch of rain can't be ruled out.
Temperatures will reflect the trends with showers and rain just to our south on Friday, with highs warmer to the north of the city (where less rain falls) and cooler to the south where rain and drizzle will be more common. Temperatures around Philly on Friday should get into the mid 50's, which will also be common to the north. Some sun can't be ruled out north of I-78 on Friday as well. Winds will be "light" but will be onshore, generally around or less than 10 mph from the east.
Weekend Sneak Peek: While the first disturbance pulls away, we're looking at lingering moisture around the region as the frontal boundary lingers just to our south. A shower or two can't be ruled out and with variably cloudy skies, temperatures will still be seasonably cool for April. It will be an improvement over Friday, though. That frontal boundary lifts northward on Sunday and after an early shower chance, skies will brighten on Sunday afternoon and temperatures will warm. Sunday should reach 70 in Philadelphia, perhaps higher if we can get into the warm sector sooner, with even warmer temperatures expected on Monday.
