April 22nd, 2011 Forecast

Despite the wind and temperatures that were 15-20 degrees cooler around the Philadelphia area compared to yesterday, today's weather isn't half bad.  Unfortunately, the half bad won't last as more unsettled weather works on in tomorrow and lingers for the weekend.   Showers should spread in around midday, especially south and west of the city, and be a part of the weather picture through Friday night and Saturday morning before we get a lull in precipitation towards midday Saturday.   Before those showers arrive, a cool and clear night is in store for the region as winds diminish and temperatures drop off overnight.

Lows tonight will range from the mid 30's in the usual suspect cooler locations outside of the city to around 40 in Philadelphia itself.   Patchy frost can't be ruled out outside of Philadelphia.   Highs on Friday won't climb much -- just to the upper 40's and low 50's as an onshore flow, mainly cloudy skies, and afternoon showers throw a somber gloom onto Good Friday.  Winds will generally be less than 10 mph from the north tonight, around 10 mph from the east on Friday.

Weekend Sneak Peek:   Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be unsettled, with Saturday featuring rain lingering into the morning hours, a bit of a lull around midday as a warm front lifts north through the region, and more thunderstorms are possible towards evening as low pressure tracks into the area with the frontal boundary.   The front stalls out over the region through Monday and brings more shower and storm chances into the region for Easter Sunday as well.   Temperatures on Saturday will moderate into the 60's during the afternoon, especially away from the Shore, and nudge towards 70 in the city on Sunday assuming the day is a bit more dry than not.   It will be cooler north (especially north of the frontal boundary) where the Lehigh Valley may stay in the 50's on Saturday and nudge 60 on Sunday.
