April 5th, 2011 Forecast

Hope you are enjoying today's warmth!   Thunderstorms will sweep into the region later tonight, with some strong wind gusts possible with those storms as they move through.   The storms, in association with a cold front, will put an end to the warm-up but not much cold air follows in the wake of the storms -- just wind and a return to "typical" April weather for a couple of days.

Showers and storms should move into Central Pennsylvania late this evening, lifting northeast through the night before the main cold front approaches towards morning from the west.   Wind gusts to over 50 mph could accompany the strongest of storms.   Isolated severe weather can't be ruled out in spots, especially to our west, and we'll have a more thorough update on the storms later on this evening.   Since the front won't cross the region until Tuesday morning, we should see our daytime highs for the day occur early in the day on Tuesday, perhaps in the mid 60's in Philadelphia, with a mild morning commute for the region out since the front will be just about on our doorstep.

The front crosses during the morning hours and temperatures slide back to around 50 or so for a time before sunshine returns in the later afternoon hours.  We should get some bump back in temperatures during the afternoon hours with the return of sun for the afternoon commute but temperatures going home will be cooler than they were going into work.

The constant for tonight and tomorrow will be wind -- gusts to 40 mph tonight ahead of the front, to 30 mph or higher tomorrow after the front passes you by.   Enjoy the mild...and breezy evening ahead of tonight's precipitation.
