May 23rd, 2011 Forecast

This week's theme is warmer -- albeit we can't promise dry weather for the whole of the week at this point as a cool front attempts to stall nearby later on this week.  The good news for warm weather fans is that temperatures will get well into the 80's on Tuesday -- perhaps upper 80's if everything breaks right!   The bad news -- thunder chances remain in the forecast for much of the upcoming week!

Tonight features some passing showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder as the warm front lifts northeast through the region.   Shower chances will be higher in the evening hours, with lingering clouds through the night.   Temperatures drop to around 60 in the city, upper 50's outside of town.

Tomorrow features increasing sunshine as the warm front lifts through, with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms popping up in the warm and muggy airmass.   At minimum, we should get back into the lower 80's in Philly as warmth and humidity come back to visit but it could be a bit warmer than this if we more sun than expected.   Scattered storms could be locally strong in spots.

Week Ahead:    It's a good news/bad news kind of week.  The good news is it will be warmer than last week.  The bad news is that it will be more humid and that with a front stalling out near Philadelphia the chance of thunderstorms exists nearly every day.  There's some uncertainty with how close to the region the front gets but assuming it stalls out nearby or overhead we could see thunderstorm chances each afternoon.  It won't rain everywhere every day but the upcoming pattern is not going to help dry things out around town.
