May 21st and 22nd, 2011 Forecast

Things will get better...we promise.   Today is the last day of more widespread shower and storm activity as the upper level low that many of us hate moves away.   This weekend's weather will not be perfect, however, as shower and storm chances will be in the forecast for both days as a spoke of residual energy could spark some thunderstorms on Saturday while an approaching warm front could bring a passing shower or storm on Sunday evening.   However, the weekend's weather will be more dry than not and temperatures will be warmer in response to the additional sunshine that we will see both days.

Storm chances on Saturday afternoon will be a touch higher to our north and northeast than around here as the upper level low will be to our east by that point and a residual trough lingers up to our north and east.  We're not expected widespread activity tomorrow afternoon but a passing shower or storm cannot be ruled out.     On Sunday, any activity (again, scattered in all likelihood) will be confined to the evening hours and odds are a bit higher north and west of the city than south and east that a shower or storm could move through.   These shouldn't last for hours on end in either case.

Temperatures will top out in the upper 70's both Saturday and Sunday across inland areas, with low 70's this weekend at the Shore.  Lows will drop into the 50's tonight and will range from the mid 50's in the Lehigh Valley to the low 60's in the city on Saturday night.    Enjoy the nicer...albeit not perfect...weekend ahead!
