May 7th and 8th, 2011 Forecast

With a zonal flow across the eastern parts of the country we will have a couple of weak disturbances crossing the region over the course of the weekend.   The first crosses through tonight and tomorrow, bringing a chance of showers or a storm to the region this evening and then helping to agitate the atmosphere during the afternoon hours to lead to a few pop up showers or storms around the area, with the best chances for Saturday's shower and/or storm mainly to the north and northeast of Philly.   A second disturbance could bring another chance of showers or storms to parts of the region, with the best chances shaping up to the south of Philadelphia although those chances will not be all that high (one in three or so).   None of the showers looks to be all that intense and no severe weather should be expected but at worst a few rumbles of thunder can't be ruled out in the afternoon tomorrow or on Sunday (south).

With the disturbances moving through, we won't have a mass quantity of sunshine but we will have it mixing through with clouds from time to time...typical May like weather as sun mixes with clouds and temperatures also "typical" for Mother's Day weekend.   Expect daytime highs for areas away from the coast to be around 70 to the low 70's for both Saturday and Sunday with nighttime lows in the mid 40's north to the low 50's around the city both tonight and Saturday night.

At the Shore, highs will be in the 60's both days with lows in the 50's.   Not a bad weekend all around.

We'll update you on the off-and-on shower chances through the weekend.
