May 19th, 2011 Forecast

The upper level low that has played havoc with forecasts and our weather the past few days will gradually move overhead the next couple of days -- it will take until Friday night to get this low out of the way and with it in the region the potential for showers and storms will continue.   Unlike the past couple of days, the chances for showers and storms will be higher in the afternoon with instability and daytime heating kicking in and coverage will generally be scattered around instead of in a banding feature.   Also, with the upper low nearby there could be some small hail in the strongest of storms in the afternoon.  Like the past couple of days, localized heavier rainfall potential continues but only in the strongest of storms.

Temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 50's and lower 60's, with scattered showers and storms continuing through the evening before shifting northward later on tonight.  We should be dry around Philly tomorrow morning for the commute to work before the afternoon shower/storm threat commences.   Highs tomorrow will be in the 70's inland, 60's at the Shore.   Winds will be east tonight, southeast tomorrow at 5-10 mph.
