PM Thunder For Some
There's a pretty clear deviation between unstable air and warmth versus more temperature conditions. A warm front is slowly lifting north and is generally cleared most of the Philadelphia metro, although its northward progression has been rather slow so far. Warmer and unstable air across South Central Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware has lead to a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 PM for the counties in the salmon shading, including Chester, New Castle, and Kent in our area.
Radar at 2 PM is showing a line of thunderstorms along Blue Mountain in Central Pennsylvania with a trajectory of east-southeast. These storms will graze parts of the region, probably missing a portion of the northern and eastern suburbs and perhaps weakening as they approach the Philadelphia metro thanks to the influence of residual stable air in place locally. Anything that moves into the Philadelphia area should do so after 4 PM and be out of the city by 7 or 8 PM.
