The last few days of nice weather will be a memory by midweek as a quick blast of heat works into the region for Wednesday through Friday, a blast of heat we'll update you on over the coming days. At present, we have a northwest flow aloft between an upper low in the Western Atlantic and a heat ridge over the center of the country. Tracking around this flow are weak disturbances that have brought a smattering of thunder the past couple of days. That smattering will continue not only tomorrow but also on Tuesday, mainly in the afternoon, mainly with daytime heating as disturbances agitate the atmosphere as they track through.
We could see a shower or storm this evening before things settle down after sunset, with skies generally ranging from partly to mostly cloudy overnight. Low temperatures will drop into the 50's in the cooler burbs, lower 60's in Philly and at the Shore. Monday will feature a bit more sunshine than today, with that pop up thunder threat in the afternoon. Any storms will be scattered, not widespread. High temperatures tomorrow will get into the lower 80's inland, mid 70's at the Shore.
Week Ahead: Another shot of heat comes back as summer decides it wants to show up. Temperatures will top 90 on Wednesday and Thursday, perhaps Friday as a cool front slides into the region during Friday with a thunder threat. Storms could be locally strong on Friday afternoon as the front slides into the heat and humidity. The heat ridge that brings us the shot of 90's will remain strong over the Southeast and stall the front out nearby on Saturday, which may result in scattered thunderstorms on Saturday across parts of the region. The hottest day of the bunch looks to be Thursday where we could see temperatures top out near 95 in the Delaware Valley.
