The forecast is coming out a bit early this afternoon as it wouldn't surprise me if we're doing some severe weather (at least some thunderstorm) chatter later on this afternoon. A slow moving frontal boundary is going to play a role in our forecast for the next few days -- first ending the heat but also because the front stalls out it will act as a focal point for scattered shower and thunderstorm activity for Friday and Saturday.
Tonight's storms have the potential of being most strong/severe to our north but even in Philly we have about a 50-50 shot at getting some thunderstorm activity this evening. Storms will fizzle out after sunset, leaving a partly to mostly cloudy sky around. It will be muggy again with lows ranging from the 60's north to the 70's everywhere else.
Friday will not be as hot as today thanks to the presence of the front. Additional clouds around and some afternoon/evening thunderstorm activity popping up will help keep things several degrees cooler. Humidity levels will still be pretty high, especially in the city and south. Highs will range from the mid 80's north to 90-93 for Philly and south, with the Shore being the "cool" spot with temperatures near 80. Winds will be light west becoming variable (north to the north, south to southeast south) late in the day.
Weekend Sneak Peek: Not the most ideal weekend ahead with clouds and thunder chances both Saturday and Sunday. Storms will be scattered and not widespread, greatest in concentration in the afternoon each day. The front returns north Saturday night/Sunday and brings us one more warm day before a second cool front crosses the region Sunday afternoon and evening with thunderstorms. Saturday will feature highs near 80, Sunday in the upper 80's, with the Shore in the 70's on Saturday and near 80 on Sunday. It will feel relatively humid all weekend.
