Late Day & Evening Showers/Storms Possible

Clouds are starting to increase across the region this morning in advance of a disturbance that will impact our weather this evening through tomorrow night, bringing a chance of scattered showers and storms to the region as the disturbance moves through.   Radar this morning shows showers across Western Pennsylvania, slowly lifting northeast.   These showers should stay to our west this morning, but additional showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon in Central Pennsylvania thanks to daytime heating and dynamics in the atmosphere.  In fact, a slight risk of severe weather is out for most of the western half of the state today...not around here, but the storms that develop to our west will be our shower and thunderstorm activity this evening and overnight.

We should be able to coax dry weather out of the work day but as evening progresses we'll see shower and storm chances increase from the west.   Higher resolution guidance is showing those storms in Central Pennsylvania by 8 PM, with the higher resolution model suggesting they reach us around 11 PM or so, with thunderstorms continuing for a few hours as they slowly march across the area.  Other computer modeling shows storms moving in after 8 PM.   Dynamics here plus timing (nighttime) suggest that severe weather is not likely here but some loud rumbles of thunder and decent downpours can't be ruled out from any shower or storm that works through the region this evening and overnight.

More shower chances are in the forecast for Friday as well as the core of the disturbance works through the region.   We'll keep you updated on that as we get to tomorrow.
