While the upcoming weekend will be mild, it will not be full of sunshine as a storm system lurks off to our west and moves towards the Mid Atlantic. We'll see a gray weekend with rain chances increasing starting on Saturday night and lasting through much of Sunday.
Tonight: As a warm front marches northward on a southerly flow, some drizzle and freezing drizzle could break out north of I-78 after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies for the region with lows in the 30's through the region. Winds generally will be light southeast (5-10 mph).
Saturday: Southerly winds at 10-15 mph will warm the region into the 50's north to 60 degrees in Philadelphia and south. Some drizzle is possible during the day west and north of the city in advance of the shield of rain that should move in at night. Skies will not feature much sunshine but there could be some brightening and times of sun during the midday in parts of the region.
Saturday Night Into Sunday: Rain spreads in during the night from the west to the east, with occasional thunder on Sunday. Mild southerly winds at 10-15 mph will continue to pull moisture north, with rain lasting at varying intensities through the day on Sunday. Lows Saturday night will range from the 40's north to around 50 in the city, with Sunday's highs in the 50's to low 60's. Rainfall totals will range from one half inch to one and a half inches across the region.
We'll provide a more detailed update on precipitation by area in a post tomorrow morning and update you on the storm through the weekend.
