This morning's temperatures look a lot like those we dealt with in January and February on a consistent basis -- teens to the north, twenties in Philly and points south. It's cold this morning but also quite dry as dewpoints are down near zero -- lip busting dry weather in place thanks to Canadian high pressure that's building in from the north. Cold air still abounds but unlike those January cold stretches, this is more of a quick "snap" of the fingers in terms of duration. Today will be a good bit colder -- highs in the mid and upper 30's -- but it will be the only cold day of the stretch. Longer days, a fast-moving pattern aloft, and a lack of snowcover will ensure this is a short duration stretch of cold.
After a chilly but not as cold night, temperatures begin to rebound on Friday (40's) and warm up for the weekend (50's to low 60's both Saturday and Sunday). Sunday will feature rain (more on that later today) but the transition to milder weather and that rainy day will feature variably cloudy skies but a quick easing of the cold.
It's March -- it can still get cold -- but the cold snaps are much shorter in duration and thanks to a warmer sun much easier to handle.
