March 10th, 2011 Forecast

Rain -- lots of rain -- is on the way as Mother Nature is loading up the atmosphere with another soggy storm system over the next 36 hours.   Rain spreads in tonight, becomes steady by daybreak, and heavy during the afternoon and evening hours tomorrow.  By the time we're all done, some spots could see three inches or more of rain from this storm.   We'll provide more information on the storm later on this afternoon.

Tonight:  Rain moves in overnight, starting as sleet and snow in the Poconos before the atmosphere warms above freezing and they transition to rain.     Rain becomes steady across much of the region by daybreak.  Lows overnight range from the mid 30's north to the low 40's south of the city, with some temperature rise possible towards daybreak.

Thursday:   Rain continues, becoming heavy in the afternoon.   Some thunder is possible from Philly and points south, with flooding of streams and usual suspect roadways likely late in the day.   High temperatures will occur in the evening hours, generally in the 50's from the Philly suburbs on south, warmest along I-95.  Some cooler air could remain in place over the Lehigh Valley where highs may not get out of the 40's.   Breezes from the east and southeast will pick up and likely gust over 20 mph during the afternoon and early evening, perhaps higher in thunderstorms.

We'll have another update on tonight's storm later on this evening.
