Warmest of 2011 So Far

Philly didn't quite set a record high thanks to the mighty Delaware and its chillier waters but today's high of 76 degrees is the warmest we've seen in Philadelphia since October and our first 70 degree day of 2011.   We were warmer in many other locations today and many places tied or broke records.   The warmest spots around were Pottstown (81), Baltimore (81), Trenton (80), and Newark, NJ (80).

While today's one day surge of summery warmth will not last -- temperatures tomorrow will be back in the upper 50's for the most part -- it is a reminder of warmer days that are to come.  Today's warmth was impressive enough that I observed some flowering trees blooming in Philly's Mount Airy neighborhood during the afternoon.    Of course these 'signs of spring' will become more numerous in the weeks to come.
